Community Care | Joy Matters
Dec 19, 2025
In times like these, joy matters. Ask anyone who’s seen a frog costume wobble down a Portland sidewalk—a little humor is good for the soul. These ideas aren’t just for entertainment. They can also help you stay connected and spread a little cheer.
Here are a few things we’re finding comfort in at the moment:
- Frog Merch for Resistance: Several artists offer Portland-frog-themed designs, with proceeds supporting important nonprofits. If you want a lighthearted symbol of solidarity, snag a $5 sticker, anti-fascist frog art, or Little Beirut merch.
- The Portland Frog Poem: We’re working to confirm the original author attribution before sharing in full, but the now-viral “Ode to the Portland Frog” poem has become a Relicura favorite.
- Watch Andor on Disney+. It’s a fictional story about rebellion with meaningful parallels to real historical movements. Sometimes fiction offers just enough distance to help us process what’s happening. (Without condoning the violence onscreen, of course.)
- Cue up Ocean’s 8 on Netflix. A museum heist movie can also be a great mental reset, especially when it touches on historical collections and who gets to claim them.
Creative resistance isn’t only about what we push back against. It’s also about what keeps us going, like a good binge-watch.
