Community Care | Healing Through Mutual Care
Jun 18, 2025
In uncertain times, healing can be found in mutual care. Here are some ways to lift each other up while strengthening the roots of your local ecosystem:
GROUNDED RESISTANCE
During WWI and WWII, people grew “victory gardens” to help supplement the food supply and lessen the strain on food chains during times of war. Planting a victory garden was both a patriotic act as well as a means to help nourish your family and local community. Today, community gardening can be an act of solidarity and a restorative practice. Sharing food and space amid tightening budgets and rising food prices allows us to deepen relationships while nourishing our bodies.

EXPLORE THE ABUNDANCE IN YOUR BACKYARD
Discover the wealth of free community events that offer history, art, and culture in your own backyard. Visiting your local library to learn about these opportunities is the best place to start. While you’re at it, we encourage you to pick up a free library card, make a donation, or even volunteer your time. Each of these acts helps to support the local library and by extension, your local ecosystem.
SIP THE BOUNTY
Use your victory garden harvest or purchase fresh ingredients from a farmer’s market to craft homegrown cocktails. Enjoy the fruits of your/their labor and unwind with this on-theme Carrot Whiskey Cocktail! It’s also a great way to get your veggies in.
