We've Grown! Introducing the RCC Team

consulting staff Jun 12, 2022

It's been a minute...

It's been almost a year since my last message to you. I did not intend for it to be this long, but it's been a year of tremendous growth. While the initial hit of the pandemic in 2020 definitely impacted this small business, the result of the following years (2021 and 2022) have seen a desire for further investment into improved collections management. Specifically, managing digital collections, digital preservation, and selecting/implementing Collections Management Systems (CMS) have all see a surge in demand. As all things digital collections is one of my specialities, the company has been in high demand. Which leads me to my good news: RCC has hired not one, but two full-time employees whom I'll introduce below.

The webinars are coming back!

With a larger team we'll be able to offer services to more organizations who need them and I'll be able to take a vacation! It also means that I'll be able to shift back to investing in activities that help the community. That means we're bringing back free webinars! This year I intend to cover project management tools and resources, how to create paid internship opportunities, how to DEAI the budget; and I'll deliver an update on the most popular webinar in our suite: How Much am I Worth?! We'll send more information on these webinars to our email list once they're scheduled so stay tuned! If you're not on the email list, please consider joining in order to get first dibs on all upcoming webinar registrations.

Now, please allow me to introduce the new RCC team!

Please meet Maia Patten (left) and Laura Froelke (right). Maia joined the company as a contractor in January 2021 and in August 2021 she moved to full-time employee as our Assistant Archivist. Maia and I worked together during our Linfield College (now University) days and her skills include finding information that's hard find (research), creating compelling historical narratives for grant applications, and editing oral history interviews into naturally flowing narratives. Laura recently joined the company in May 2022 as our Lead Archivist. She and I worked together when she interned at the Lan Su Chinese Garden and I served as her archives supervisor/mentor. Laura brings with her a previous career in mechanical engineering with knowledge in the particularly helpful areas of historical building infrastructure, HVAC design, and code and plan reading. Laura is also a certified archivist and has a specialty focus in records management. Together, Maia and Laura bring further breadth and depth to the RCC team and I can't wait for you to meet them!
